Wilma Mills Durrance

Wilma Mills Durrance, mother of Gail Parent of Bradenton, 93, passed away January 10, 2016.

She was born March 15, 1922 in Bowling Green, FL to the late William and Olivia Harrell. She was a lifelong resident of Florida living in Hardee and Polk County. Wilma was a lifelong member of the Bowling Green United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.

Wilma was predeceased by her two husband Harry Mills and Rev. Tiny Durrance , step-daughter, Kay Wilson and five siblings. She is survived by her two daughters; Gail Mills (Bud) Parent of Bradenton, Shirley Mills McClintock of Atlanta, GA, three step-daughters; Brenda Philpot of Williston, FL, Alisa Poorbaugh of GA, Darlene Glenn of Chattanooga,TN, brother, Alton Harrell of TX, sister, Mary Whiddon of GA, four grandchildren; Steve and Brian Parent, Eric and David McClintock, eight great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 3-4 on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th St. W., Bradenton. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Fitzgerald Cemetery, U.S. Hwy 37 and Fitzgerald Rd in Lakeland.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Bowling Green United Methodist Church, 4910 North Church Ave., Bowling Green, FL   33834 in her memory.
