Wilbur J. Castner ,90, of Bradenton, passed away on August 4, 2019.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 65 years, Janet Castner, 1 son; Bradford Castner (fiancée Sandy Robinson), 3 daughters; Leslie (Ron) Silver, Marsha (Daniel) Littlefield, Jennifer Castner, 1 brother; Richard Sanders, 7 grandchildren; David (Tammy) Silver, Christie (Moshe) Bursuker, Kristina Castner, Nicholas Castner, Courtney Castner, Amanda (Braden) Chandler, and Danielle (Jon) Avery, 14 great children; Ryan, Kyle, Tyler, Ayden, Rylee, Eve, Ari, MacKenzie, Landen, Lillian, Loralei, Will, Emma and Chase, and 1 grand dog; Gracie Hope.
Wilbur was born in Newton, NJ, to Clarence and Jennie Castner, starting his life on a farm. He graduated from Newton High School and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Newton, NJ.
He had a life long love of music, pursuing this love as a member of a band in Newton, NJ called Wee Willie and the Melody Aires.
Wilbur and his wife, Janet, were avid gardeners. Together they cultivated beautiful gardens in both NJ and FL. They loved the beach and walked many Jersey and Florida shores. They traveled to many different places together, nationally and internationally. In their earlier years, they would travel by camping with their four children.
He was the proud owner of Castner and Castner Furniture, attended the Living Lord Lutheran Church in Bradenton, FL. and was a member of West Bradenton Rotary Club for 25 years.
Wilbur honorably served his country during the Korean War.
Visitation will be held on Fri. August 9, 2019 from 4-8 pm at Shannon Funeral Homes Westview Chapel.
Funeral Services will be Sat. August 10, 2019 at 11 am at Shannon Funeral Homes with interment to follow at Mansion Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Wilbur's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
