Wanda Bindley Figari, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 peacefully at home.
She was born in Evansville, Indiana to Fred & Ethel Damm, and lived there throughout her childhood. She received her undergraduate degree with honors from Indiana State University where she also served as homecoming queen, and President of her beloved sorority, Chi Omega, where she made many lifelong friends. She later earned Master degrees from both Ball State University and USF. She was also a proud appointee to the Kentucky Colonels.
She taught elementary school in Carmel Indiana, which she especially loved, and later in Bradenton for several years. She later worked for the Manatee School Board as a Title 1 reading specialist before retiring.
She loved living on the Island and her Friday night 'date nights' with husband Lou to its many fine restaurants, watching sunsets, painting, reading and throwing parties. Many people enjoyed her Indy 500 parties and Christmas sing-alongs.
She had a smile that could light up a room, sing a song to brighten your day, and always had kind words and great advice for others, she truly was a selfless friend to many. She loved to travel and never met a stranger during she & her late husband Lou's many trips. Wanda really lived life to its fullest, and the best way to describe her was happy, joyful and especially, fun.
She will be missed beyond measure, by son Michael Bindley of Holmes Beach, daughter Renee Bindley Weintraub (Larry) of Bradenton, granddaughter Danielle Robert of Ft. Myers and grandson Airman Nathan Robert of Germany.
A celebration of her life will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Sandbar Restaurant, 100 Spring Ave., Anna Maria, FL.
