Theresa Kommers, 101, Bradenton, passed away May 30, 2015.
She was born April 11, 1914 in Guttenberg, NJ to the late Frank and Helen (Mihalovich) Rehak. Theresa was a graduate and salutatorian of Hillsborough High School in Tampa. She received her B.S. Degree from the University of Tampa, and also attended Florida Southern College and Florida State College.
During her career as a teacher she taught at Jackson Heights School and Gorrie Elementary School both of Tampa. While living in Tampa she was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Theresa moved to Bradenton in 1991, and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bradenton, where for many years she volunteered with the Rosary makers and Hobby Group at the Church. She also did volunteer work and was a past member of the U.S. Navy Seabee Veterans of America, Dept. of Florida.
She was predeceased by her husband John, and her brothers and sisters. Survived by her five nephews; David B. Schumacher of Adamsville, TN, John A. Schumacher of Sardis, TN, Henry M. and Karl R. Schumacher of Tampa, Paul Schumacher of Wesley Chapel, FL, and many extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 P.M. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 with a prayer service to be held at 3:30 P.M. at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th St. W., Bradenton. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Tampa.
