Taylor McFarland Hill, a dedicated Presbyterian minister and cherished member of his community, passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 87 in Bradenton, Florida. 

Born on January 19, 1937, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Taylor's journey was marked by a profound commitment to his faith and a passion for service that spanned over five decades. A graduate of Davidson College, Taylor continued his theological studies at Columbia Theological Seminary and Pittsburg Theological Seminary. His education laid a strong foundation for a career devoted to uplifting and guiding congregations across various states, including Florida, California, Texas, Alaska, and Oregon. Taylor's ministry was characterized by his deep compassion, insightful sermons, and unwavering dedication to fostering community and connection within each church he served.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Beth” Boston Hill, who was his partner in faith and life. Taylor is also remembered with love by his three daughters: Christine “Chris” Hill Leinenkugel and her husband Kurt, Laurie “Summer” Hill Crosbie and her husband Simon, and Boston Taylor Jade Clavering and her husband Wayne. His legacy continues through his granddaughter, Jessica "Jess" Hailey Crosbie. Taylor's family also includes three stepchildren: Shannon Coles Alexis and her husband Ryan, Victoria “Tori” Coles Williamson and her husband Jarrod, and their son J.J., and Tyler Joseph “T.J.” Coles. Each member of his family carries forward the values he imparted and reflects the kindness he exemplified throughout his life.

As we remember Taylor McFarland Hill, we honor him for the indelible mark he left on those he served and loved, the communities he built, and the faith he cherished. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 8th at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Sarasota, 2050 Oak St, Sarasota, FL 34237
