Tania Komar

May 17, 1937 — July 24, 2024

Tania Komar, born on May 17, 1937, near Shanghai, China, passed away peacefully in hospice care on July 24, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with illness. She lived in Shanghai for the first decade of her life, she came to the United States and settled in the Binghamton, NY area. Later moving to central Florida to be close to her newest grandchildren.


Tania's life was marked by resilience, love, and a deep, unwavering faith. As a lifelong devout Orthodox Christian, she instilled the values of faith, compassion, and service in her children. Her dedication to her faith was evident in her tireless volunteer work at her church, soup kitchens, and hospice care, always seeking to help those in need.


She is survived by her three devoted children and six cherished grandchildren. Her daughters, Katherine Hartnett of Carol Stream, IL, and Elaine Mueller of Lithia, FL, along with her son, David Komar of Kansas City, MO, held a special place in her heart.


Katherine, married to Dan Hartnett, brought joy to Tania's life with her two granddaughters, Annastasia and Caraline. Elaine, married to Paul Mueller, blessed Tania with two more grandchildren, Alexandra and Jacob. David, married to Monica Komar, completed Tania's circle of love with his children, Stephen and Sarah.


Tania's journey from Shanghai to the United States is a testament to her strength and determination. She created a warm and loving home for her family, always putting their needs above her own. Her legacy of kindness, perseverance, and unconditional love will continue to inspire all who knew her.


A Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark’s Orthodox Church in Bradenton (1517 57th St. E. Bradenton, FL 34208) at 10:00 AM on Wednesday July 31, 2024. Visitation will occur the hour prior to the funeral at 9:00 AM.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to a hospice care organization of your choice.


Tania Komar will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her commitment to faith and service leaves a legacy that will be remembered for generations.
