Ryan Douglas Silverman

Ryan Douglas Silverman, 32, Bradenton, passed away June 1, 2015 at his home.

He was born October 16, 1982 in Bradenton, FL to Mark & Kathy (Mims) Silverman. Ryan was a 2001 graduate of Southeast High School. He received his B.S. Degree in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida. After teaching high school for a few years in Manatee County, Ryan was compelled to continue his education. He earned a Masters in Business Administration from Keiser University while in nursing school. In 2011, he graduated with an A.S. Degree in Nursing from the State College of Florida (SCF). He then earned his B.S. Degree in Nursing also from SCF in 2013. Ryan worked as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Manatee Memorial Hospital, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

On May 5, 2014, he was diagnosed with stage 4 Ewing’s Sarcoma. Ryan fought hard during his 13-month battle including chemo, radiation, and surgery. He never gave up & maintained a positive attitude, which inspired many. He was a member of Woodland Community Church. He loved God and his family, especially his daughter, Violet. Ryan grew up playing and watching sports. He loved the Gators and the Rays.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Jessica, and daughter, Violet; his parents Mark & Kathy Silverman; sister Stephanie LaMania; maternal grandfather Tom Mims; paternal grandparents Larry & Diane Stewart; aunt & uncle, Jennifer (Mims) & Ed Jackson; uncle Tommy Mims; cousins Brooks, Logan, & Sadie Jackson; and many extended family members & friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Betty Jo Stewart and his maternal grandmother Violet Mims.

His viewing will take place on Friday, June 5th, 2015 from 5:00-6:00pm with a Funeral Service starting at 6:00pm at Woodland Community Church, 9607 State Road 70 East, Bradenton, FL 34202.
