Ruth Ann Whitaker was born on Nov. 19, 1941, on the family farm in Mount Gilead, Ohio. She passed away June 8, 2022, in Bradenton, Fla. Ruth retired as a communications specialist with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. Her hobbies were collecting sheep and owl figurines, crafts, sewing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with family. Ruth was a devout Christian and a member of Woodland Community Church in Bradenton. Ruth was born to Paul Dale and Ida Mae Jagers (deceased). She had three older brothers, John Hoyt Jagers and Richard Jagers (deceased). Ruth is survived by her brother Dr. Paul “Dale” Jagers Jr. of Pigeon Forge, Tenn. His wife, Mary Ellen, preceded her in death. Ruth is survived by Richard’s wife Nina Lee Jagers of Roswell, Ga. Also preceding her in death was husband Charles William Whitaker, and Scott’s father, her long-time companion S. Dewey Smith. She is survived by her three children, daughter Beverly Ann and husband Mark Williams of Lakeland, Fla., daughter Cindy Sheree and husband Jim Hoffman of Parrish, Fla., along with their daughter, Meghan and husband Bryan Weston of Bradenton, her son Scott David Whitaker and wife Dana of Palmetto, Fla., along with daughters Jordan Whitaker of Palmetto, Kiley Whitaker of Parrish, and Hannah Whitaker of Bainbridge, Ga., Scott's son Josh Whitaker and his wife Christine, and their daughters Payton and Baily of Estero, Fla. She is also survived by eight nephews and nieces. A Visitation will begin at 11:30 am with Service commencing at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 17th at Shannon Funeral Home, 1015 14th St W. Bradenton, FL 34205
