Ruth Evelyn Tomichek-Few, 96 of Bradenton, passed away May 16, 2017.
Ruth was born March 15, 1921 in Woodford, Virginia to the late Joseph and Annie (Pavey) Brooks. She lived for many years in Baltimore, MD.
Ruth worked for the former C&P Phone Company which later on became Bell Atlantic and then finally Verizon Phone for over 35 years holding many different positions in the company over the years. She was also a member of the Pioneers of the Telephone.
Ruth moved to Bradenton in 1989, and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She moved into the Westminster Towers in 2002 and enjoyed volunteering in the Health Center there.
She was predeceased by her first husband Stephen Andrew Tomichek in 1959, and by eleven brothers and five sisters. Ruth is survived by her loving husband of nine years, Albert G. Few, Jr. of Bradenton, two daughters; Patricia (Ron) Holland of Chestertown, MD, Virginia (Jim) Carrano of Stoughton, WI, step-son, William Thomas Few of Largo, FL, step-daughter, Elizabeth Katherine Booth of Jacksonville, FL, three grandchildren; James (Jessica) Carrano, Michael and Father David Carrano, one step-grandchild, six great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild and many extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th St. W. Bradenton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1220 15th Street West, Bradenton, with interment to follow at Manasota Memorial Park in Bradenton.
The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Westminster Retirement Communities Foundation in her memory.
