Ruth Elizabeth Parrish Myrick, 100 of Holmes Beach, joined her heavenly family on June 4, 2017.
Elizabeth was a direct descendent of the historic Parrish family for which the town is named for. She was born in Parrish, FL on March 1, 1917 to the late Fred and Lenna (Cecil) Parrish. Elizabeth attended school in Parrish and Palmetto, FL, graduating from Palmetto High School in 1935. After graduation, she moved to Tampa, FL and attended Brewster's Business School.
In 1941 Elizabeth married her true love Whitt Clifton Myrick. They lived in Tampa until W.C.'s death in 1972. Soon after her loss she retired from Southwest Water Management, where she had worked for 35 years. Elizabeth then moved to their home in Holmes Beach on Anna Maria Island.
She was a lifelong member of the Parrish United Methodist Church where her family was one of the founding families. Elizabeth also volunteered for many years with the Thrift Cottage at the church.
Elizabeth was the last of her immediate family of eight siblings, all having preceded her in death. They were Susie Shirley, Catherine Lamb, Frances Britt, Frederick Parrish, Jeannette Keever, Cecil Dansby, K.C. Parrish and Cleo Amlong. She opened her heart and home to her family, especially her nieces and nephews, who now mourn her passing.
A celebration of Elizabeth's life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 8, 2017 in Historic Church at the Parrish United Methodist Church, 12180 U.S. Hwy 301, Parrish. Private interment will take place at Fortner Cemetery in Parrish.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Parrish United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 375, Parrish, FL 34219 in her memory.
