Ross Leland Wright, Jr., 91 of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away February 11, 2016 at Bon Secours Place in St. Petersburg.
Ross was born on December 2, 1924 in Plant City, Florida to the late Ross Leland Sr. and Kelly (Hughes) Wright. He served his country faithfully during World War II by serving with the United States Navy.
Following his military service he taught for many years in the Hillsborough County School District, and for the last 19 years of his career served as the Principal of Pine Crest Elementary School. He was also a past member of the First Baptist Church of Plant City where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Director.
He moved to Bradenton in 2001 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palmetto. Then in December of 2013 he moved to St. Petersburg to be closer to his daughter.
Ross was predeceased by his loving wife Betty in 2009 and is survived by his two daughters; Sharon Salter of Wauchula, FL, Nancy Murchie of St. Petersburg, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the West Oak Lawn Cemetery in Plant City.
The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL. 33760 in his memory.
