Rick A. Solomon

May 4, 1949 — December 30, 2022

Ricky Allen Solomon, of Bradenton, FL, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2022.

Rick was born in Lima, OH, to Margaret & Frank and had 2 sisters, Sharon and Cathy.

He graduated from Sarasota High School and received a drafting degree from Manatee Junior College. He worked at the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport for 42 years and made many lifelong friends. Rick loved his profession, managing numerous airport infrastructure improvements over the years, and working with fellow airport professionals that he viewed as family.

Rick was a lifelong fisherman (he always made sure everyone else caught fish first), boater, world traveler, spicy food eater (he definitely tried!), Disney World lover, dad joke teller, and handyman. We learned he was a SCUBA diver and unicycle rider recently! He was not a man of many words, and he never spoke ill of anyone. He was a gentleman, kind, soft-spoken, hard-working, humble, and a great son, brother, husband, father, Pito, Tio, Compadre, and Padrino.

Rick is survived by his loyal best friend of 47 years, his beautiful wife, Betty of Bradenton, his daughter, Jennifer (Lyons) of San Antonio, TX, his son, Richard of Tampa, and his precious grandchildren, Austin and Stella, of San Antonio, TX, whom lovingly called him "Pito," his sisters, his god daughter, Yara Gatica-Santizo, multiple nieces and nephews in the US and Guatemala, and granddogs, Lola and Luna.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Memorial service will be held at 10am on January 12 at the Lakeside South Clubhouse.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The St Jude Research Hospital.
