Richard Lee Buckle, 69, Bradenton died October 13, 2015. He was born June 24, 1946 in Evanston, IL to the late Richard Buckle and Martha (Richards) Buckle Cox.
Richard is a 1964 graduate of Manatee High School, Manatee Junior College and attended the University of Florida and a graduate of University of South Florida and of Stetson Law School.
He was an Assistant State Attorney in the 12th Judicial Circuit of Florida from 1973 to 1977. In 1977, he opened his private practice with Layon Robinson in downtown Bradenton. In the same year he also was a founding Board member of Manatee County Children’s Services.
Richard loved children and animals. He started a non-profit organization with a bear mascot called the “Chubby Cubby” to help combat child abuse. He was also against abortion and domestic violence.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara Rogers Buckle, his two sons, Ryan and wife Jennie of Bradenton, their two children, Rylee and Jacob; Evan and wife Lyndsey of Virginia, their son Bradyn and one due in April. He is also survived by his sister Sally Buckle Wenzel, her husband William of Sarasota and their three sons and their families; his brother Phillip and wife Toni of California and their daughter; his cousin Sandra Stephenson of Bradenton and her family; cousin Richard Gray of Springfield, MO and his family and many extended family members and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday October 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at West Bradenton Baptist Church, 1305 43nd Street West, Bradenton. Brother Robert Allen will be officiating. The family will receive guests after the service in the Church Sanctuary.
