Richard Depagter

Richard James DePagter (Baldy) of Bradenton, Florida passed away February 5, 2022. Richard was born September 24, 1934 in the Town of Wilson, to Harvey and Gertrude (Buchholz) DePagter, on the family farm.

Richard attended Oostburg High school, graduating May 27, 1952.

In 1954-55 He played semi-pro football for the Sheboygan Red Wings until a broken ankle forced him to retire.

He served in the US Army 1957 & 1958 stationed in Germany as a tank driver in the 4th Armored Division.

He married Barbara Gartman, together they had 2 sons, James and John. And her 3 children. Divorced.

Richard worked for Oostburg Concrete and later created his own concrete company, traveling to Florida to work during the winter months.

He married Lucille Leannah, they had daughter Julie. Divorced.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Gertrude, brothers Edward, Norbert, Daniel, and his sister Elaine (John Hubing). Sister in Law Maria Rodriguez DePagter.

He is survived by brother Gerald (Janis), children, James, John, Julie, grandsons Gabriel and William. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The Shannon Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Bradenton assisted with cremation, in February of 2022. His cremains are in the Sarasota National Cemetery, Florida.
