Reuben George Blackwood, 70, of Bradenton, passed away May 31, 2017.
Reuben was born June 21, 1946 in Kingston, Jamaica to the late Reginald Blackwood and Tryphina Welsh. He has been a resident of the Sarasota/Manatee County area for many years coming from Jamaica. Locally, he worked as a golf attendant at The Oaks Country Club.
Survived by: his beloved wife, Sharon of Bradenton; one son, Andrew (Laverne) Blackwood of West Palm Beach, FL, seven daughters; Monique (Mujtaba) Blackwood- Hameed of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Lisa Massop of New York, NY, Nydia (Steven) Silvera of Las Vegas, NV, Leonie (Courtney) Robinson of Columbus, OH, Narvea (Ferron) Senior, Nyopia Davis, both of Jamaica, and Crishanah Grant of Columbus, OH, two sisters; Elizabeth Welsh-Cousins of Orlando, FL, Merle Heslop of New York, NY, fifteen grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th St. W., Bradenton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, Bradenton, interment will follow at Manasota Memorial Park, Bradenton.
