CW4 (Retired) Raymond E. Green Sr
Chief Warrant Officer Raymond E. Green Sr, 85, of Bradenton, FL passed away after a protracted illness with his beloved wife Monique, by his side.
A resident of Bradenton, FL, a US Army and Vietnam Veteran, Ray had a long tenure of service as both a Soldier and Civilian supporting the US Army.
Born in Frostburg, Maryland on March 19, 1939. He grew up in Lonaconing, MD and graduated from Valley High School in 1957. Ray joined the Army in 1958 serving as a Field Artilleryman in Germany before transferring to the Maryland National Guard. He was involved in the search and rescue of a nuclear armed B-52 bomber and crew that crashed in a blizzard on Savage Mountain, Maryland in 1964. Returning to active duty in 1967, he was commissioned as a Warrant Officer serving tours in Korea, Vietnam, Germany, and Ft. Campbell, KY. After leaving active duty in 1975, he served in the Kentucky National Guard until his retirement from the Army in 1999. Ray continued supporting the soldiers of the Army and Fort Campbell as a DoD civilian and deploying 4 additional times to Iraq and Afghanistan, before moving to Florida in 2010 to be near his grandchildren.
In retirement Ray loved spending time with his grandchildren, enjoying family Sunday dinners at home, gardening, and doing projects around the house for his friends and family.
Ray is survived by his wife Monique with whom he was married for 63 years; his son Raymond Green, JR, and wife Marchell; his grandchildren John Green and wife Jaquelynn, Brooks Green, Reese Green, and Haley Herrod; his great granddaughter Sophia Green; his Sister Darlene Horning, and his brother Joseph Snyder.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ida Green Snyder and his grandmother Mary Jane Dawson Green.
A Committal Service with Full Military Honors will take place on June 27, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Sarasota National Cemetery.
