Michelle Barnum

There will be a funeral service on Monday July 24tDr. Michelle Lanette Browne Barnum, aged 65 years, passed away at her home on July 15 th, 2023.

Michelle was born July 2 nd 1958 to Anne Livingston and Dr. John Browne in Miami, Florida. After excelling in high school and graduating valedictorian, she received her Bachelors of Science at thehistorical black university, Spelman College and her Medical Doctorate at Howard University Medical School. She met the love of her life, Andre Barnum, at Howard University. They were married July 18 th , 1982. After medical school, Michelle specialized in psychiatry during her residency, and eventually

moved to Missouri where she and Andre raised their three wonderful children – Joliette, Jelyce, and Jared.

Along with raising their family, Michelle and Andre Barnum ran a successful Psychiatric Private Practice for 20 years in Southeast Missouri. Dr. B, as Michelle was fondly called by her nurses and patients – was loved by everyone in her community for her compassion and expertise in helping those who were going through stressful life circumstances and dealing with psychiatric disorders. When she was not helping people at work – Michelle could be found having a girl’s day out with her daughters or leading a mcommunity education event at a local Church’s women’s group.

After moving to Louisiana in 2015, it wouldn’t be long before Michelle would be widowed in March of 2017, when her beloved husband Andre Barnum passed away. From there she moved to Florida with her children, where she lived until her death in July 2023.

She is survived by both of her parents – Anne Livingston and John Browne, her sisters Adrian Gill and Lori Browne, and her children Joliette Grace, Jelyce Barnum, and Jared Barnum.

The funeral service for Dr. Michelle Browne Barnum will be held at 11:30AM, Monday July 24 th , 2023 at, Shannon Funeral Home, Bradenton Fl.h at Shannon Funeral Home starting at 11:30AM followed by a graveside service.
