Melvin Douglas Stivers "Doug"

Melvin “ Doug” Stivers from Bradenton, FL passed away on June 5, 2023 at home.

He was born in Lexington, KY to Raymond and Elizabeth Stivers.

Doug enjoyed listening to gospel music, playing the banjo, watching movies and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, after serving in the military he served his community as a police officer. He was a Kentucky Colonel.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Carolyn Stivers, his son Stephen, his daughter Susan and his seven grandchildren Savannah, Stephanie, Hayley, Julie, David, Sarah and Melissa.

He was pre deceased by his son Michael Stivers.

Services will be open to the public Sunday June 11, 2023 from 3:00pm to 5:00 pm at Shannon Funeral Home 1015 14th St. W. There will be a military honor guard ceremony at 3:30 pm.
