Maxine L. Winans, 102, of Bradenton Fl passed away October 17, 2018. Daughter of Reuben and Edith Lennon, born Feb. 16, 1916 in Eaton County, MI.
Her early life was lived near Lansing, MI. She graduated from Lansing Central High School, Class of 1934 with scholastic honors.
She married Riley E. Winans and lived in Grand Ledge, MI. Riley preceded her in death in 1992 after 52 years of marriage.
She worked for Singer Sewing Machine Co. and later with Michigan State Civil Services Dept. and Michigan State Banking Dept. She and Riley moved to Bradenton, FL in Nov. 1948 from Grand Ledge, MI. She was a long term employee of G.B. Clark, MD of Opthalmology in Bradenton as a Medical Secretary.
Maxine was an active member of Congressional, United Church of Christ over 50 years. In 1995 she was married to John F. Thompson of Bradenton. He preceded her in death in 2008.
Maxine was surrounded by loving people who found and expressed joy in her longevity. She had timeless human values, courage, independence and love.
She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Christian and son Riley E. Winans II, four grandchildren, 6 Great-grandchildren and one Great- Great grandchild.
