She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Manny, of 20 years, daughter, Alberta, 2, and husband of 35 years, Alex Dionne. Also preceded in death by her sisters, Monica Langen and Mariel McCarthy, both of Canada.
She is survived by her 4 children, sister, Mareta (Gene) James, of Topeka, KS, 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren (all the great-and great-great grandchildren called her 'GiGi') many nieces, nephews, sister/brother- in -laws, and friends throughout Canada and the United States.
After the death of Manny, she married Alex Dionne, her childhood sweetheart, on August 6, 1976 and moved to Arthurette, NB, Canada. Due to health reasons after 42 years Marie was moved to Bradenton, FL to be cared for by her girls, especially Paula, for the day to day care, and Sylvia for keeping all of mom's paperwork and benefits straight. And to both of them for taking mom dancing every Friday night.
Marie loved dancing, fishing, hunting, gardening, sewing, and cooking. She was noted to have her counters full of various yummy desserts but her baked bread and rolls drew everyone to her home. When she was visited by family or friends, they all left with a few extra pounds. Marie loved her family and friends and helped anyone.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider a tax-free donation to the Bradenton's Women's Club, where Marie loved to dance on Friday evenings. The Bradenton's Women's Club is a non-profit organization who raises funds to supply homeless women and children with personal items, and funds to help Veterans.
