Madlyn Louise Bass

Madlyn Louise Bass died on April 23, 2015 in Bradenton, FL at the age 87.

Madlyn is survived by her husband of 67 years, Roy W. Bass Sr.; her children, Maggie Dickow (Russell), Bob Bass (Maggie), Pam Sifuentes (George), Sam Bass (Jane), Cindi Bass, and her adopted daughter, Marsha Hockenberry; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Walters; her brother, Robert Merle Walters (Eleanor); and her sisters, Mary Emmaline Nowak (Matthew) and Jane Anne Clayton (Ira Allen).

Madlyn was born on July 23, 1927 in Findlay, Ohio. She graduated from Wilbur Wright High School in Dayton, Ohio. She continued her education at Miami Jacobs Business College in Dayton, Ohio. She used her skills at many firms from bookkeeper to insurance agent.

Madlyn met Roy in the halls of Miami Jacobs. They were married November 15, 1947. Over a period of 10 years the couple welcomed five children while living in Detroit and Calumet/Laurium, Michigan and Glendale Heights, Illinois. Her children remember a busy home full of love and support for all their endeavors.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her focus was always her family. She shared her love of music with many, starting with playing in the high school band to singing in many church choirs. Most recently she was a member of Happy Notes of Colony Cove.

She was also an active crafter, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. She was an active member and officer of the Hobby Club of Colony Cove. She found great strength in her faith and was an active and dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church of Bradenton, enjoying the music and Sunday School. She enjoyed playing Bingo and especially winning.
