Lucy Thompson Zegota, 96, of Bradenton, passed away March 30, 2016.
She was born December 2, 1919 in Redwine, KY to the late Charles H. and Grace (Ward) Thompson. Lucy moved to Bradenton in 1950 coming from Philadelphia, PA.
Locally, she along with her late husband Theodore, formerly owned and operated the Nationwide Paint Store on 14th St. W. for over 20 years. She was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy for over 25 years, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and served on the Board of the Gamble Mansion in Ellenton and assisted with their recreations. She also served as a caregiver to several family members; Billy Francis, Stephanie McCloud, Charlie & Tommy Thompson.
Lucy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Theodore R. in 2003 and is survived by her two loving children; Robert T. Zegota of Tampa, FL, Grace Baker of Cumming, GA; sister, Mary LeMaster of Lexington, KY; two grandchildren; Thomas Zegota of Tampa, FL and Nicole Baker of Cumming, GA, and many extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 A.M. on Monday, April 3, 2016 at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Avenue W., Bradenton with a Celebration of Lucy’s life to follow at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Gamble Mansion in her memory.
