Palmetto

Louise Yvonne Tourville Silvanic passed away February 13th , 2025 in Palmetto, Florida surrounded by her family.

Louise was born July 18th, 1936 in Menomone, Wisconsin to Clarence and Grayce (Kidney) Tourville. The Tourville family moved several times around Wisconsin during Louise’s early years and while Clarence served in the US Army during World War II. The moving continued after the war when Clarence was recalled to duty, first to Colorado Springs, then to Camp Crawford, Sapporo Japan where Louise graduated from High School. Returning to the states and following business college, Louise worked for the US Army at Fort Benning, GA where she met and married Capt George Silvanic. The Silvanic family quickly grew with the births of Mark and Pené Sue, and the family moved with George’s army service; Hays, Kansas, West Berlin, Germany, Fort Dix, New Jersey, Roanoke, Virginia, Taegu, Korea, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, and finally Palmetto, Florida when George retired from the Army.

Louise never met a stranger, and was known for her ability to make friends with everyone. She turned every organization she worked with into part of her family; Louise worked as secretary at Palmetto High School from 1978 to 1988 where she loved interacting with teachers, staff and especially students. She was active at St Mary’s Episcopal Church having served on the Vestry for many years and she worked at Pené Sue’s Hallmark store in Ellenton and Louise’s Hallmark in Bradenton. She loved dogs, hedge hogs, Gnomes, lady bugs and football. She was avid Green Bay Packers fan and recently became an Air Force Football fan. Louise was a life long patriot and passionate supporter of veterans, and would give a hug to all veterans she met. She was especially proud of her children and grandchildren and loved sharing in their lives and achievements.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Silvanic, daughter Pené Sue Colbert, and her sister Pené Stagner.

She is survived by her son Mark Silvanic, daughter-in-law, Dorothy Silvanic, son-in-law Jeff Colbert, grandchildren, Kemery Colbert, Clara Silvanic and George Silvanic, sister-in-law Joy Colbert and brother-in-law Dick Stagner and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St Mary’s Episcopal Church March 15th 2025 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please support veteran organizations.

Louise will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery with her husband George and a short walk from her parents grave.
