Lois “Debbie” Doebler Parvin, 92, passed away on September 28, 2021. She was born on April 19, 1929 in Chicago Illinois.

She retired as an occupational therapist in 2010 after working with children at the Easter Seals Society Southwest Florida and Manatee Memorial Hospital. She attended and graduated from Maryville College in Tennessee where she met Chuck, and they married in 1950. After living in Maryville, and then Arlington Heights, Illinois, they moved back to Chuck’s hometown in Bradenton, Florida in 1976. Debbie was a Stevens minister and Chuck was a Sunday School teacher at First Presbyterian Church of Bradenton.

Debbie is survived by three children, Rex Parvin, Jan Martinez and Scott Parvin, and their spouses, along with six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Parvin, who went to be with God in 2006.

Debbie ran a dance studio in Arlington Heights when in 1961, she became confined to a wheelchair for eleven years due to a terminal muscle and skin disease similar to muscular dystrophy. After being healed and able to walk again, she served as a missionary with her husband Chuck in South Korea in 1976. She decided while working with children overseas, to go back to school to be an occupational therapist. Her life verse was “the joy of the Lord is my strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). Her testimony was shared in national and local publications and speaking engagements that touched many people.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made in Debbie's name to Easter Seals or Westminster Community Foundation Point Pleasant Benevolent Assistance Fund.
