Lillian M. Tobin

Lillian May Tobin, 89, of Bradenton passed away peacefully on October 27th, 2018.  Born in Astoria, Queens in New York City on October 8th, 1929  she is the daughter of Norman and Agnes Foggan.  She was a cheerleader for Roslyn High School where she graduated in 1948.

Lillian leaves behind 4 children who will always miss her; Jimmy Tobin of Missouri, Pamela Reed of Florida, Jane Stoop of Tennessee, and Barbara Eaton of Florida.  She has 7 grandchildren:  Crystal Ollek, Melissa Tobin-Rashford, Jon Eaton, Cassandra Eldridge, Joshua Eaton, Elizabeth Reed and Donna Reed, and brother; Norman Foggan  She also has 9 great-grandchildren: Corey Eaton, Colton Eaton, Lily Eaton, Jeremy Eaton, Kaley Eldridge, Alicia Eldridge, Brian Jackson, David Rashford, and Blake Rashford.  Lillian is also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She was always involved in the community including being a member of the Flower Hill Hose Co, Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary in Port Washington, NY for many years.  Helped as a chaperon/assistant at the Port Washington PAL Drum and Bugle Corps along with volunteering with the Manorhaven PTA.

Lillian loved bowling, was in many leagues and won many awards.  She volunteered as an art teacher and an assistant at the Longboat Key Community Center.

One of her most involved and beloved duties was as a member of the Anna Maria Fire Dept Auxiliary and West Manatee Fire Control District’s Special Services.  When the fire department members were toned out on a potential extended time call, Lil would go to the volunteer station #3 and let dispatch know and tones would be sent that special services were available and members would drop off their children for her to watch while they went out to the scenes.  It could be fires, storm related, or other time-consuming calls and everyone knew their children were in good hands.  The station was equipped with toys, food, playpens, TV, movies, etc. to keep the kids happy.

She was also a first responder because AMFD put on a class at the station and needed one more person to be able to teach at AMFD station instead of MTI in town.  As a member of Annie Silvers Group on Bradenton Beach, she and the group went on field trips, played bingo and enjoyed socializing with people their own age.
