Leonard C. Kopczynski

On Sunday, January 7, 2024, Leonard C. Kopczynski, age 93, went home to be with the Lord.

Leonard grew up in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and moved to Bradenton, Florida in 2009.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 68 years, Esther (Ostrowski) Kopczynski . Together Leonard and Esther had three children whom they raised in Hampton Township, Pennsylvania. Surviving him are his loving daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Joe Semock from Medina, Ohio, daughter-in-law Dianne Kopczynski, Bradenton Florida, and son-in-law, John Mallick, Jeannette, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Karl Kopczynski, Bradenton Florida, and daughter Rhonda Mallick, Jeannette, Pennsylvania. Leonard was a proud Grandpap to four beautiful granddaughters, Julie, Jenny, Emily and Jaime, two wonderful grandsons, Joshua and David, and three great grandsons.

Leonard attended Central Catholic High School and upon graduation attended drafting school where he earned a draftsman certification. He worked 55 years as a draftsman for US Steel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, until his retirement in 2009. Leonard competed in many sports growing up and in his later years enjoyed golfing and bowling and spending time with family and friends. One of his favorite activities was cheering on his favorite Pittsburgh teams, the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates. Leonard loved talking with anyone he met and was always there to offer advice and help to all he knew. All those who knew him, loved him for his caring and compassionate nature.

Viewing will be held at Shannon Funeral Homes, 1015 14th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34205 on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

A Catholic mass will be held Friday, Jan. 12, 2024 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 12905 State Road 70 East, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202 at 11:00 a.m.
