Leon M. Barnard 'Pete' of Bradenton, FL passed away after a brief illness on January 20, 2020.
He was born on September 17, 1932 in Bloomfield CT to Leon M. Barnard and Mary Miller Barnard.
Leon was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, attended the University of Connecticut and Alfred University where he studied ceramics. He was employed by the Hartford Faience Co. Inc. most of his working life eventually becoming its General Manager and Vice President.
He proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Army, working on the Nike Missile program.
Leon was a past Master of the Masonic Lodge of Bloomfield. He was also a friend of Bill W and had been sober for 35 years at the time of his passing.
He is pre-deceased by his by his wife of more than 50 years, Diane Elizabeth Rankin and grandson Lawrence Christopher Barnard. Diane was the love of his life.
Leon leaves behind a brother; Donald Barnard, sister; Barbara Barnard Douglas, three children and their spouses. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
