Kent Albee Wyckoff, age 85, of Bradenton, FL, died October 21st, 2023.
Kent was the beloved husband of 48 years of Joan who passed away in 2019; loving father of Jason (Kristi) of Tennessee and Scott of Florida; proud grandfather of Ella, Miles, Everett and Zachary; and brother of Shirley (the late Jim) Noland of Colorado and the late Linda (Andy) Penick of Kansas.
Kent graduated from Mesa College in 1959. In 1962-1963 he worked in Antarctica for the United States Antarctic Research Program. For his service, in 1966 the National Science Foundation named a glacier in Antarctica after him, Wyckoff Glacier. To read about Kent’s Antarctica adventure, visit wyckoffglacier.org.
Kent worked in Engineering Sales for The Bell System for the majority of his career and helped bring cellular phone technology to consumer automobiles.
Kent enjoyed the outdoors, reading, travel and spending time with his grandchildren.
No local services will be held. He will be laid to rest at Bohemian National Cemetery, Chicago.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kent’s name may be directed to the charity of your choice.
