Kathleen H. Coakley

October 2, 1946 — January 1, 2019

Kathleen Harrington Coakley (“Mim,” “Kathy,” “Kate”), of Parrish, FL, passed away peacefully at the age of 72, on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2019 after a valiant fight against the ravages of Myotonic Dystrophy.

She is leaves behind her husband of 51 years, John Coakley, daughter Susannah Savitsky, son-in-law Jamy Savitsky, grandchildren Logan Savitsky and Serena Savitsky, sisters Chris Harrington and Paula Harrington and countless other beloved family members.

Kathleen grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts where she worked at the Lynn Item and graduated from Lynn English High. She later obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut. She was a long-time resident of Mystic, Connecticut, where she was Director of Membership for the Mystic Seaport Museum and worked for various other non-profits.

Her family wishes to thank the staff of the Manatee Memorial Hospital; her home health nurses Amy, Ann Marie and Catherine for their loving care and friendship; her caretaker, Hope, for the amazing care she provided every day; and North River Fire Department, Parrish Fire Department, Manatee County EMS and West Coast Southern Ambulance who always showed incredible kindness and skill when assisting Kate. You will always have a place in our hearts!

Kate’s family will be hosting a reception in her honor and encourages friends and family to join them for food, friendship and fond memories. The reception will be held at Pier 22 Restaurant on January 20, 2019 between 2-5pm. Please come for the afternoon, or just drop by, to celebrate this wonderful woman’s life.
