Julia M. Sweigard, 75, of York died March 6, 2023 at HCA Florida Blake Hospital, Bradenton, FL. She was the loving wife of Edward M. Sweigard. Julia and Ed were married for 54 years.


Born April 28, 1947 in York, she was the daughter of the late John Z. and Marie V. (Hildebrand) Miller.


Julia retired in 2007 from the York City School District where she was employed for 18 years. Following retirement, she started Roadside Grille Food Truck with the help of her family. She ran the Food Truck for 7 years. Julia enjoyed talking to people as she was taking the orders for the Food Truck.


Julia was a 1965 graduate of Central York High School and received her Bachelor of Education from Elizabethtown College in 1969. Julia was a longtime member of York First Church of the Brethren where she sang in the Choir. She enjoyed vacationing in Bradenton, FL during the winter months. She loved her boxer dogs, socializing with friends and sewing. Most of all, her family was very important to her.


In addition to her husband, Edward, she is survived by her daughter, Holly Ricke and her husband, Raymond of York; her son, Steven Sweigard of York; her granddaughter, Corrine Victoria Sweigard of York; and her brother-in-law, John Sweigard and his wife, Darlene of Reidsville, NC.


Funeral services will be held Monday, March 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market Street, York with Pastor Joel Gibbel, her pastor, officiating. Viewings will be held Sunday, March 19, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. both at the funeral home. Burial will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Bowerman’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 1665 Powells Valley Road, Halifax, PA. Funeral services will be livestreamed on Julia’s tribute page on the funeral home’s website (www.etzweilerfuneralhome.com)
