Judith Haney Cleveland

January 6, 1942 — May 12, 2017

Judith Haney Cleveland, 75, went home to be with the Lord on May 12, 2017. Judy was born January 6, 1942 in Bradenton, Florida to the late Fred and Vera Sykes. She was a 1960 graduate of Manatee High School, attended Trevecca Nazarene and Bethany Nazarene College and received her Master's Degree in Education from Nova University.

Judy worked for the Manatee County School Board for more than 35 years as an elementary teacher and media specialist with a majority of her time at Stewart Elementary. She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene and the church organist for over 50 years. In her later years, she attended West Bradenton Baptist Church where she loved singing in the choir. Judy served as a volunteer and enjoyed her time on the scholarship committee at Blake Medical Center. She loved to travel including several mission trips to Russia and absolutely loved MHS football games. Judy will be remembered as a loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Teacher who touched the lives of countless individuals. To know her was to love her, she lived and died a Christian.

Judy was predeceased by her husband Ronald L. Cleveland, and is survived by her two children; Charles Haney and Jennifer (Joseph) Rogers, grandchildren; Joseph, Madelyn, Charlie and Brady Rogers, two step-children; Timothy Cleveland and Shannon (Kenny) Levinsky, siblings; Shirley Brooks, Fred Sykes, Jr., and Deborah (John) Roler, niece; Lisa (Bobby) Milburn and nephews; Rob (Donna) Melton, Jason (Crystal) Roler and Justin Roler and several extended family members.

A celebration of Judy’s life will be Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1616 59th St. W., Bradenton with a visitation with the family at 5:00 p.m. Committal services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Sarasota National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to either the Manatee Education Foundation, 1023 Manatee Ave. W., Suite 215, Bradenton, FL 34205 or TideWell Hospice Inc., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238 in her memory.
