Joyce M. Dorfler

Joyce Dorfler, age 79, peacefully passed away on April 3, 2025, at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center in Bradenton, Florida. Born on October 13, 1945, in Baltimore City, Maryland, to George and Maude Walters, Joyce embraced life with an open heart. On April 15, 1967, she married her devoted husband, Charles Dorfler, beginning a lifelong journey of love and partnership.

Joyce is lovingly survived by her husband, Charles; her brother Doug and his wife, Lois Walters; her brother-in-law, Joe Dorfler; her daughter, Robin, and son-in-law, Eric Belcher; her son, Scott Dorfler; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Owens, her beloved grandson, Jordon Dorfler, and her brother-in-law, Ron Dorfler.

A proud graduate of Towson High School (Class of 1962), Joyce led a fulfilling life as a dedicated mother, homemaker, and administrative assistant in various professional settings. After retiring from Ocean Walk in Daytona Beach, she devoted much of her time to volunteering at Christmas Come True in Flagler Beach—an enduring testament to her generous spirit.

Joyce began her love of reading at a very young age and kindled her passion for literature by recently leading a neighborhood book club alongside close friends. She also delighted in playing cards and games—a favorite pastime that spanned her years in both Maryland and Florida. An avid trivia buff, she enjoyed many spirited games with her trivia teams in Flagler Beach and at the Elks Lodge in Bradenton.

Joyce’s life was richly marked by her unwavering faith in Christ. She actively participated in prayer groups in both Maryland and Florida, where she formed lifelong friendships and mentorships. Whether reading her Bible, praying with others, or simply spending time with loved ones, Joyce’s days were filled with laughter, warmth, and a contagious smile that endeared her to everyone she met.

A smart, kind, and caring soul, Joyce always put others first and never met a stranger. Her legacy as a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew her.
