Joseph Samuel Benny Jr.

Joseph S. Benny, formerly of Bradenton Florida, died peacefully in his sleep on December 20, 2020. He was 94 years old and is survived by his wife, Anne (Nancy) Benny, nee Farren.

A big man with a booming voice, he was a great storyteller, pigeon aficionado, and jigsaw puzzle addict. After a career in banking in New Jersey, he moved to Florida. He loved to drive and started a second career moving cars around the state for automobile dealerships. He was well known by the car dealers and probably equally familiar to every donut shop in the region.

Joe was born in Philadelphia in 1926. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He was the only child of Joseph S. Benny, Sr. and Helen Rode Benny. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Jo-Anne Schneider, Gulfport; Merle (Joseph Landi), St Petersburg; Mark (Ellen Wissing), New Jersey; and Jeanne (Samuel Waknine), Connecticut. He was Grandpa to Joy Pilkins, Patrick Alonso, John Landi, Sarah Landi, and David Waknine.
