Joseph Leggett

Joseph "Rusty" H. Leggett Jr, 63, of Bradenton, passed away on April 18, 2023.

He was born in Brunswick, GA to Joyce Clark and Joseph H. Leggett Sr.

Joseph attended Rabun Gap Nacoochee School in Rabun County, GA. He considered that experience some of his greatest school years, while he worked on the Foxfire Newspaper and books. Some of his photography was recognized by the National Geographic and earned him a trip to Washington D.C. He returned to Bradenton in his sophomore year and graduated from Glynn Academy in Brunswick, GA.

Joseph enlisted at age 17 and was assigned to the 101 Airborne Division in Ft. Campbell, KY. He served as an aviation mechanic being sent to parts and places worldwide. Joseph was honorably discharged at age 23. Upon returning to Bradenton, FL he earned his associates degree in Tampa, FL. He also attended Manatee Jr. College and later earned his mechanic certificate from Manatee Technical Institute.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce Clark; two sons; Cody Leggett of Bradenton and Joshua Leggett of Annapolis; granddaughter, Rhiannon; sister, Teresa Laxamana (August); niece, Jenny Laxamana of St. Simms, GA; uncle, Sterling Altman of Plant City, FL; and several cousins.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thurs., April 27th, 2023 at Shannon Funeral Home 1015 14th St. W. Bradenton, FL.
