Joseph Francis Grassifulli passed away peacefully on July 30, 2021.
Joseph was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 5, 1940 to parents Domenic Grassifulli and Esther Green LaPointe.
He grew up in South Plainfield NJ, lived in Philadelphia and retired in Bradenton, Florida in 2001.
After graduating high school in South Plainfield, NJ , Joseph entered the United States Army where he received several medals: Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserves Medal, Army Career Badge in counseling and the ARNG Master Recruiting Badge.
Joseph worked as a Philadelphia Police Officer. Appointed March 29th, 1970, Member of Police Academy class# 219. Upon graduation, Officer Grassifulli was assigned to 39th District, Reports Control, Police Academy and 35th District. He retired December 9th, 1985. Joseph returned to his love of Armed forces and completed his career as a Master Sergeant.
Joseph worked for the Social Security Administration in Bradenton, Florida in his later years.
Joseph enjoyed golfing, baseball (Yankees) and bowling. In the 1970’s he was featured as a television professional bowler earning numerous championships.
Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of almost 55 years, Rita and his faithful children. Joseph (Annie) Grassifulli, Andrea (Gregory) Tickle, Sandra (Deceased) Grassifulli. His loving grandchildren, Siena, Gianna, Cole, Kendall, Nicholas. Joseph had many siblings, Katherine, Charles, Judy, Mary, Thomas, Nicholas, Robert and Patricia. Joseph will be remembered for his genuine kindness, bravery, and dedication to his family. He will be missed by his loving family and friends.
Friends and Family are invited to his funeral mass held on August 6, 2021 at Saints Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church in Bradenton, Florida at 9:30 AM.
A Honor Guard Ceremony will be held for Joseph at his mausoleum interment on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery 626 Baily Rd; Yeadon, PA 19050. Police escorted procession will assemble at William G. Malloy Funeral Home 625 Byberry Rd; Philadelphia PA 19116 at 11:00 AM.
