Joan Youngberg

January 16, 1932 — October 21, 2015

Joan Youngberg, 83 of Anna Maria, passed away October 21, 2015 at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton.

Joan was born on January 16, 1932 in New York City, New York to the late Charles and Josephine (McCann) Youngberg. She served her country faithfully during peacetime between the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era  by serving as a Sergeant with the United States Army.

She lived in the Astoria, New York for many years where she worked as a medical secretary.

She was also a member of the St. Joseph Parish in Astoria, and was a member of the Columiettes of New York State where she served as an officer for many years, serving in the various positions including being the President for 2010-2011.

Joan moved to Manatee County Florida six months ago, coming from Knoxville, Tennessee. Locally she attended the St. Bernard Catholic Church on Holmes Beach.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Richard Morash of Anna Maria, Florida, niece, Kathleen Morash of Anna Maria, Florida, three nephews; Kristofer Morash of Murpheesboro, Tenessee, Richard and Kevin Morash both of Bradenton, Florida, three great-nephews, and many brothers and sisters in Christ.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 A.M. until 12 Noon on Saturday, October 24, 2015 with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:00 Noon at the St. Bernard Catholic Church, 248 South Harbor Drive, Holmes Beach, Florida with Father Michael Mullen officiating. Following the services, Miss. Youngberg will be transferred to the Drago Funeral Home, 4310 30th Avenue, Astoria, NY where the family will receive friends from 2-5 P.M. and 7-9 P.M. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the St. Joseph Parish, 4319 30th Avenue, Astoria, NY with interment to follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Woodside, New York with final honors by the United States Army Honor Guard.
