Jeff W. George, 58 of Anna Maria died August 8.

Jeff was born November 10, 1964, in New Brunswick, New Jersey to William and Marilyn (Richard) George. His family moved several times ending up in Urbana Illinois, where he attended high school, graduating in 1982.

He went on to attend the University of Illinois, where he got a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1986. After graduation he married Susan Shaw in Urbana, Illinois and both moved to Plano, Texas, where Jeff worked for Frito-Lay. He received a Master of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in 1990. His first daughter, Lindsey, was born in Plano in 1995.

The family moved to Anna Maria, Florida in 1997. Jeff’s second daughter, Lauren was born in Bradenton in 2000. Jeff worked for Tropicana in Bradenton until 2004 when the family was transferred to Cary, Illinois where Jeff was Vice President of Quaker Foods and Snacks until 2010. Jeff was then employed by Hillshire Brands as Senior Vice President of Research and Development.

In 2014 the family moved to Haddonfield, New Jersey for a job with Campbell Soup Company as Vice President Research and Development.

In 2018 Jeff retired for the first time and returned to Anna Maria. He consulted for and then became the Senior Vice President Head of Research and Development for Hain Celestial in Lake Success, NY. Jeff retired for the second time in 2022.

Jeff was on the Board of Directors of The Soulfull Project, The Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences and was on the advisory Board for the University of Illinois Professional Science Master Program.

Jeff was a volunteer for the Mote Marine Science Education & Outreach Center. When he wasn’t volunteering or being a mentor, he loved to spend time sailing on his boat with family and friends.

Jeff is survived by his parents William and Marilyn George of Anna Maria, his sister Debbie Frizzell, his wife Susan George and his 2 daughters Lindsey George, and Lauren George.

A celebration of Life is planned for September. Donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org) or Mote Marine Laboratory (mote.org).
