Jay Rhodes, 40, of Myakka City, FL passed away unexpectedly on 12/6/2020. Jay was born to Sheryl and Jerry Rhodes in Bradenton, FL on 12/17/1979.

Jay enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves in 2007. He completed Basic and Advanced training as a Combat Engineer at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. From 2008-2010 he was stationed at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, where he continued training in preparation to deploy to Afghanistan during the Iraq War. After medical discharge, due to injuries sustained while serving, Jay returned to his career in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. He was extremely talented in his field and was always striving to better his skill set.

Jay loved to be outdoors and was always looking forward to his next hunting, fishing or camping trip with his family. He was a hard worker, a protector of all who he loved, had a huge heart and was willing to help anyone at the drop of a hat. He had a quick wit and enjoyed making others laugh. He was a musician and played the drums and piano and enjoyed studying the Bible.

Jay is survived by his wife, Felicia Rhodes, mother, Sheryl (Lonnie) Rhodes, father, Jerry (Patty) Rhodes, brothers Brad (Joni) Rhodes and Nathan (Whitney) Rhodes, children Kayla, Lane and Braelyn. Stepchildren Nathan, Emily and Tyler and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Jay was preceded in death by his sister, Ashley Rhodes.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020, beginning at 11am at Bradenton Gospel Tabernacle 1218 7th Ave East, Bradenton, Florida 34208, with Reverend John P. Marlow and Reverend Glenn Walker (Gospel Assembly of Central Florida) officiating.

Interment will follow at Gillette Cemetery 8996 Ellenton Gillette Rd., Palmetto, FL.
