James Lamar Douglas, 71, Bradenton, passed away September 29, 2016 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.
James was born on December 28, 1944 in Bradenton to the late James Thaxton and Doris (Lockhart) Douglas. He grew up in Bradenton, and served his country faithfully during the Vietnam War by serving with the United States Army. While serving with the Army he obtained the rank of Specialist Fourth Grade and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, One Year Safe Driver Badge, and was qualified as an expert with the M-14.
Following his military service James returned to Bradenton and worked as a painter in the construction industry. He also attended the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10141 Palma Sola Post in Bradenton.
He was predeceased by a sister Doris and is survived by his two daughters; Loria Fair and her husband Rodney of Bradenton, Melody Klingbeil and her husband Donald of Bradenton, a brother, Donald Douglas of Georgia, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
