James Edward “ED” Romine, 88, Bradenton, passed away October 23, 2015.
Ed was born March 12, 1927 in Oneco to the late Theodore and Pansy (McFarland) Romine. He was a lifelong resident of Manatee County.
He served his country faithfully during WWII by serving with the U.S. Army. Following his military service he worked for Florida Power and Light for 37 ½ years, retiring as a Distribution Dispatcher. He was a former long-time member of the Oneco Baptist Church where he served formerly as a Deacon, Emmanuel Baptist Church in Parrish, Bayshore Baptist Church where his grandson Rev. Tripp Battle was Senior Pastor and most recently at West Bradenton Baptist Church.
Ed was predeceased by his first wife, Betty, brother, Theodore Jr., sister, Hazel, and grandson, Rev. Tripp Battle. He was survived by his loving second wife of 12 ½ years, Alice Crawford Romine, two daughters; Cheryl (Michael) Stuart, Rhonda (Jimmy) Battle, brother, W.M. (Ida) Romine all of Bradenton, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many extended family members, and brothers and sisters in Christ.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th St. W., Bradenton. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the West Bradenton Baptist Church, 1305 43rd St. W., Bradenton. The family will also greet friends on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 2:30-3 P.M. graveside at Manasota Memorial Park on the north side of 53rd Avenue West, Bradenton.
The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Florida Baptist Children’s Home, 3410 Bouwer Ct. E., Palmetto, FL 34221 in his memory.
