James 'Chauncey' F. Lachaunce

September 24, 1957 — May 24, 2016

James “Chauncey” F. LaChaunce, 58, of Bradenton, FL passed away very suddenly on May 24, 2016.

James was born on September 24, 1957 in Plattsburgh, NY. LaChaunce worked for New York State Department of Corrections for over 25 years. Prior to retiring, he was an officer at Comstock, and then transitioned to Sargent at SingSing before being promoted to Lieutenant. He finished his career in Taconic. In 2008 he moved to Bradenton, FL. to join his wife Jacqueline LaChaunce to retire.

Chauncey had a natural passion and appetite for anything he worked on, creating and building with impeccable craftsmanship; from contract work, to furniture building, his work was always meticulous. A man with a huge heart, loyal and committed to those he loved.  He was always lending a hand and willing to help anyone when they needed it. The many friends he made over the years helped him to create a family of his own and gave him tremendous happiness and peace.  Those close to him and loved him said, he was always positive, uplifting, and encouraging. He was a mentor to many that touched his life and he will be greatly missed.

Survived by his wife and friend of 18 years Jacqueline Nagle LaChaunce of Williston, VT, step-son; Douglass T. Mabee of Cheshire, CT, step-daughter; Jessica Mabee Sturgeon and Granddaughter Clara F. Sturgeon of Fairfax, VT.

A private memorial service to celebrate his life is being planned by his wife, family and few close friends in Bradenton, FL.

Condolences for the family may be made online at www.shannonfuneralhomes.com.
