Ian Stewart Robb left this world for heaven, Thursday, May 17th at Blake Medical Center after a short illness. His parents, Jennie Hinton from England and his father William n. Robb from Scotland, immigrated to Illinois where Ian was born and given that Gaelic name which means John. Ian, his brother and sister were raised in Glenview , Illinois a suburb of Chicago.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army for two years, serving in Germany as a Jeep driver after radio repair school.
Later at the University of Illinois, Mechanical Engineering degree.
He met wife Marilynn there and they wed May 30, 1960. The aerospace company Fing Tenco Vaught recruited him to Texas and the family lived in Arlington for 25 years. Daughter Amanda and son Randall were raised there. He later changed jobs to the University of Texas at Arlington's Physical Plant, bought a two acre from and cultivated a half acre garden.
Always a builder, he designed and built a second story on to the farmhouse. He also built two previous homes.
In 1979, he retired to Sarasota and n to Bradenton. He sailed with the Sarasota Sailing Squadron in his 32 foot Endeavor, then took racing lessons which led to several years of racing car number 23 at DeSoto stock car track. Up until his last illness he was remarkably strong, taking care of all the upkeep of his house and yard.
He is predeceased by his sister Elizabeth (Clyde) Herrmann of Illinois an brother William (Meta) Robb of Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilynn, two children; Amanda Blemings and Randall Robb, both of Texas, two grandchildren; Andrew (Megan) Blemings of Pennsylvania, Suzanna Perz of Texas, and two great grandchildren; Nicholas Perz and Lorelai Blemings.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 4:00 pm at First Church of the Nazarene, 1616 59th Street W. Bradenton FL 34209.
