Gus Malliaras

Gus Malliaras, 80 of Bradenton, FL and Tripoli, Greece, passed away July 18, 2015 while in Greece.

He was born January 20, 1935 in Greece. He moved to the U.S.at the age of 19 and then to Florida in 1977 coming Chicago, IL. He founded Basil’s Chicken in Bradenton in 1987 and was the owner and operator until his passing. He was a member of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Sarasota, past member of the 100 Club of Manatee and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Advisory Board.

Predeceased by a grandson, Dean in 2006, son, William in 2007, a brother and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Dee of Bradenton, Fl, and two sons; Nick (Jeanie) Malliaras of Bradenton, Stavros (Effie) Malliaras of Sarasota, five grandchildren; Vasili Malliaras, Marie (George) Lamarre, Kosta and Melina Malliaras, DeDe (Chris) Tsiamaddes, and six great-grandchildren.

All services will be held later this week in Greece.
