Gordon J. Forsythe, Jr., affectionately known as “Gordie” and “Pops,” passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2024, at the age of 73 in Palmetto, FL. A longtime resident of Tyngsborough, MA, Gordon was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Gordon was born on November 20, 1951, in Union City, TN. Following graduation from Bedford High School, he proudly served in the Air National Guard, reflecting his commitment to his country. His education at ITT Tech, combined with his experience in electronics and communications, laid the foundation for a successful career. For nearly 50 years, Gordon worked in the automotive industry, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients alike. A gifted mechanic, he had an exceptional ability to fix everything, including a car, bike, or anything around the house. He had a strong work ethic and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Gordon was a man of many talents and passions. He was an avid fisherman, RV’er, road tripper, and baby whisperer, and he enjoyed spending his winters in Florida at Winterset Resort. A happy crier, his love of life was evident in the simple joys—whether it was drinking a cold whiskey, singing silly songs, listening to country oldies, tending to his lawn with care, or sharing a laugh by a campfire. Gordon was known for his love of barbeque, sweet tea, biking, mall-walking, and 9-square. He found the most delight in spending time with his family; and he was a friend to all.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Ray Wallace and Juanita Gatewood. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 51 years, Elaine; his children, Ryan, Brad, and Kelly; and their spouses, Joanne, Anne, and Colin, who Gordon always considered children of his own. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Carson, Mason, Reagan, Henry, Mallory, Oliver, and Jack; his siblings, Eddie Forsythe, Van Harvey Wallace, and Tammy Eaker; and their spouses, Geri, Susan, and Bobby.

A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held on Monday, January 27th at Tyngsborough Funeral Home, 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough, MA. Visiting hours will be 3:00-6:00 pm, followed by a short service including military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice in Gordon’s name or you may simply perform an act of kindness—just as Gordie did throughout his life.

Gordon’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
