Frederic Alan Marsh

April 20, 1946 — October 4, 2017

Frederic Alan Marsh, 71, of Longboat Key, passed away on October 4, 2017.

Fred founded and oversaw the growth of Loop Shoes, d/b/a Sacco Shoes, starting in 1976. During its 36 year run, Fred presided over the opening of 18 stores in New York City, two in Chicago and a Princeton, NJ location. In addition, he headed the wholesale divisions, Ecco Diffusione and the Andrea Jovine Footwear collection.

Fred was the consummate professional, putting his soul into every shoe he designed, working every detail through and through. Fred was a pioneer in designing comfortable fashionable footwear for women with his 'Sacco Comfort' collection which was well received by his customers. He developed relationships with countless factories in his beloved Italy visiting numerous times annually to oversee the Sacco collections. He was highly respected in the industry for his vision and designs.

Fred's passion for life was contagious. He loved to travel and had the good fortune to travel the world. But, Italy was always his favorite. He was an Italian food and wine connoisseur who fancied himself an Italian Count in another life- time.

He was an avid sportsman who from his youth loved to play baseball and basketball graduating to tennis and skiing in later years. He was a runner and exercise/fitness aficionado who prided himself on being healthy and fit. As a proud Bronxite/New Yorker, he was an avid Yankee, Knicks, Jets, Giants, Rangers, etc. fan for his entire life, attending hundreds of games screaming, rooting and booing with the best of them.

Fred was a generous 'gentle sole' who wouldn't hesitate to give the 'proverbial shirt off his back' to his many loved ones. For the last five years, he valiantly and with tremendous dignity fought the degenerative neurological disease, MSA. Knowing the inevitable prognosis, he strove to live his life as fully as possible knowing that his best friend and loving wife was always at his side, laughing with him, cajoling him and caring for him.

He will be sorely missed and always remembered by his wife, Ann; daughter and son- in-law, Rachel and Adam Wald; his grandchildren, Milo, Ilya and Ruby; his brother and sister-in-law Michael and Andrea Marsh; and his many, many loving family and friends.

Donations in Fred's honor for the research, understanding and eventual cure of MSA will be greatly appreciated. www.crowdrise.com/fred- marsh-memorial-fund.
