Frank Riccio

January 27, 1921 — October 28, 2015

Frank Riccio, 94, of Bradenton FL, formerly of Wood-Ridge NJ, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 28, 2015.

Mr. Riccio was born in Rochester, PA to the late Girolomo & Maria Costanza Riccio. Relocating to Jersey City, NJ during his childhood, he was the eldest boy in a family of seven children. Resourceful and hardworking, Frank helped to provide for his family during the Great Depression by working multiple paper routes, shining shoes, and working for a local tailor.

He served his country faithfully during WWII, supporting the U.S. Army’s 67th Medical Group in General Patton’s third armored Division during the Normandy Invasion, the Battle of the Bulge, and the liberation of France and Germany. After the war, he began a thirty-eight year career at PSE&G which he culminated as the Manager and Chief Chemist of the Harrison Gas Plant.

He married his childhood sweetheart, Jennie, and they were married for 68 wonderful years. They went on to raise four children (Regina, Joyce, Paul & Janet) while he continued his education and worked his way through the ranks at PSE&G.

He is also survived by his six grandchildren (Matthew, Jessica, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Joshua & Jennie) and one of his six siblings, Joe.

Frank and Jennie happily retired to Florida for their golden years, first as snowbirds and then as full-time residents and enthusiasts. Always eager to be involved in his community and a natural leader, Frank was active in and ultimately became the president of several organizations including the PSE&G Suncoast Retiree Club. In later years, he was an active member of American Legion Post 24 and VFW Post 1014. Frank cared a lot about faith, family and friends. He brought a smile to the face of everyone who met him. He faithfully served as an usher at the First Church of the Nazarene past his 93rd birthday.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and services on Tuesday, November 3 beginning at 9:00am at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1616 59th St. W., Bradenton, FL 34209. Interment will follow at Manasota Memorial Park, South side of 53rd Avenue East, Bradenton FL 34203.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s memory can be made to the First Church of Nazarene.
