Everett Gene Hutchings, 80, Orange City, FL passed away peacefully March 20, 2016 in Bradenton, FL.
Gene was born January 10, 1936 in Paris, IL to the late Aaron and Mamie (Avery) Hutchings. He, at a young age, moved to the Griffith, IN area where he grew up. He served with the U.S. Army during Peacetime.
In 1961 he married C. Elaine Ford and they moved to Orlando, FL. During his life, he was resident also of Tampa, Sanford and then in 1976 moved to Orange City. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Burnup and Sims in Tampa and Sanford, Volusia Tractor in DeLand, Bartow Steel in Bartow, and retired from Seminole Pre-Cast in Debary, FL.
He was a member for many years of the First Baptist Church of Orange City, where he served as an Usher.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, C. Elaine Hutchings of Orange City; son, William A. Hutchings of Bradenton, FL; daughter and her husband, Mary Beth and Kevin Grage of Orlando, FL; precious grandson, Tyler Andrew Grage of Orlando; brother, Tom Hutchings of Lowell, IN; sister and her husband, Gloria and Merle Eichelberger of Griffith, IN; and many extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th St. W., Bradenton, FL with a Celebration of Gene’s life to follow at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, FL with final honors by the U.S. Army.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory.
