Ernest “Mickey” Walter Cockrum, Jr., 82 yrs, of Bradenton, FL, passed away on September 13, 2022, unexpectedly, from a head injury from a fall.
He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to Louise and Ernest Cockrum, Sr. He enjoyed traveling and golf and worked at various jobs. He retired from Motorola in their Florida location.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Ernest Cockrum, Sr., and by his former wife Carol Cockrum and by his brother-in-law Richard Lundry.
Ernest is survived by his loving daughter, Melissa Cockrum; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Gloria Cockrum, Frank and Judy Cockrum, and Ron and Linda Cockrum; 2 sisters and brother-in-law, Carol and Amos Mitchell and Patricia (predeceased Richard) Lundry; as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
He proudly served in the U. S. Army.

He may be viewed at Shannon Funeral Home in Bradenton, FL, on October 11, 2022, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Following an informal procession to the Sarasota National Cemetery, a funeral will proceed at 2:00 pm at the Committal Shelter.
