Ed Arthur Henson, 86, of Ormond Beach Florida, passed away peacefully on November 8th
after a long life filled with love and respect from his family and friends.
Ed was born on December 8th , 1937, in Brevard, North Carolina to parents Fred Arthur and
Grace Bryson Henson. As a young man, Ed spent much of his youth hiking and camping
throughout the Smokey Mountains and excelling in football during his high school years. At
sixteen his family moved to Greeneville Tennessee where he met his wife, Charlotte Lavon
Wright and they have been in love ever since.
After Ed graduated from Greeneville High School in 1956, he joined the US Army where he
served for six years as an enlisted soldier and later in the Army Reserves.
Ed married Charlotte in 1958, and during their more than 66 years of marriage they had two
children: Mark Wesley Henson (deceased), and Constance Casey.
In 1999, Ed retired from over four decades in the aerospace and defense industry. His success
was due to his independent drive and determination to provide a good life for his family. This
he did beyond expectations. Over the years Ed and Charlotte enjoyed traveling to many
countries. Some of their favorite travel took them to Europe where Ed was involved in the
Air Shows that took place there yearly. For pleasure they loved to travel to their favorite
island, Barbados, and they also enjoyed many cruises over the years.
After retirement, he continued to play his beloved game of golf on a regular basis and
continue his love of boating and fishing. A special treat he loved was to watch the University
of Tennessee football games with his wife every Saturday during season. He was a devout
Baptist and a member of the First Baptist Church of Palm Coast Florida.
Ed was predeceased by his son Mark, his parents Fred and Grace, his brother Dorcie Clifford
Dills, and his brother-in-law John Davis.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte, daughter Constance Casey, son-in-law Robert Casey,
sister-in-law Sandra Davis, nephews Todd Seckler, David Seckler, John (Allegra) Davis,
Keith Dills, and David Dills, and nieces Gail Young and Laura Dills.
Services will be held at a later date in Greeneville, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research
Hospital.(https://www.stjude.org)
