Dorothy Marie Furlong

April 16, 1926 — July 11, 2015

Dorothy Marie (Noga) Furlong, left us to join the Lord on Saturday, July 11, 2015.

Dorothy was born in New York City. She served in the Civil Air Patrol in Yonkers, NY for 4 years during WWII where she soloed a sea plane. She was a graduate of Mt. St. Vincent College, NYC, and received her Master’s degree in Education at SUNY-New Paltz. Dorothy taught first grade elementary school at Brookside Elementary School, Susquehanna Valley School District, in Conklin, NY for 25 years before retiring to Bradenton, FL.

Dorothy was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bradenton and more recently at St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Church of Parrish. She was a member of the Legion of Mary.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Robert of 65 years and seven children; Martin P. Furlong, Albany, NY, Walter J. Furlong, Baltimore, MD, Mary Bunker, Austin, TX, Patricia A. Furlong, Bradenton, Paul F. Furlong, Binghamton, NY, Joseph B. Furlong, El Paso, TX and Kathleen Glover, Bradenton. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bradenton. Interment will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the America Cancer Society in her memory.
